ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMS - Saint Michael's School of International Studies (SIS) was founded in 1954 in Burlington, Vermont. It is one of the oldest and most well-respected English-language and teacher-training programs in the United States. We offer three English Language Programs and five professional programs, including the Master of Arts, for teachers of English as a Second/Foreign Language.

  • The Intensive English Program (IEP) is for those who want to learn or improve their English language skills. The program has five different levels from beginner to advanced study.

  • The Academic English Program (AEP) is designed for students who need to improve their English-language skills and plan to continue their study at a college or university in the United States.

  • The Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (MATESL) is a graduate program for people who want to teach English to non-native speakers in the United States or in other countries.

UNDERGRADUATE and GRADUATE PROGRAMS - Ranked among the 15 finest masters universities in the North by U.S. News and World Report, Saint Michaels grounds its 29 majors, along with pre-law and pre-medical programs, in an extensive liberal arts core and a commitment to exceptional teaching.

[B]CAMPUS LIFE- Most undergraduate and English language students live in dormitories on campus. A full meal plan is available. All residences are wired for phone, cable TV and computer accessibility. Students must provide their own computer equipment for their dormitory room. Internet and email access is free and is also available through the computer labs on campus. There is a monthly fee for linen service.

SURROUNDING AREA - The town of Colchester is adjacent to Burlington, the largest city in Vermont.
Perhaps the greatest appeal of the area is living in a manageable city with great New England charm and access to urban resources, while surrounded by the beauty of some of the most scenic views and outstanding recreational opportunities in the United States. Situated on 440 scenic acres overlooking Burlington and Lake Champlain, with superlative views of Vermonts Green Mountains, Saint Michael's combines the bustle of a busy college town with the splendor and challenge of a spectacular four-season wilderness.
